What Others Say About Us

Summerston Childcare

Summerston Childcare have worked with TIGERS for quite a few years; in that time we have developed fantastic working relationships with the staff.  The team at TIGERS are truly expert in their field and the quality of the trainees has been first rate.

The support given to the trainees goes beyond the norm and we have therefore benefitted from getting well rounded staff who not only have the necessary qualifications but they have the expertise to make them skilled Practitioners in the Childcare workforce.

Daffodil Children's Nursery

TIGERS training have provided Daffodil Children's Nursery with quality training for several modern apprentices that we currently employ. Our trainees enjoy attending their training sessions and have regular assessments from TIGERS staff.

We were recently offered the opportunity to take on a work experience placement with a young person. We receive weekly phonecalls to check the progress of the young person and to check their timekeeping/absence. We are delighted with service that TIGERS provide us and would recommend them to other nurseries.

Meiklewood Nursery

I would like to commend the work that TIGERS do in aiding young people into training and work. Without services such as this, our young people today who may not want to go down the academic route would be at a great disadvantage. TIGERS have provided us with students for a few years and they have proved to be committed, hardworking and enthusiastic members of our nursery who have went on to be full time qualified members of staff.

I would recommend TIGERS to any company looking to employ young people in a modern apprenticeship capacity.

Carillion

I have been involved with TIGERS Apprentices for more than 3 years and have found the relationship very rewarding for all parties involved.

The apprentices get the experience of working on various types of sites, at differing stages of construction and learning from operatives building a “real project”.

The contractor has the pleasure of seeing the apprentice gaining in experience and confidence from working in a live environment.

Carillion Apprentice

TIGERS helped me into employment with Carillion.  I found the job very rewarding.  I progressed into work placement with Coneworx and the experience there prepared me for full time employment.  I am now working full time with Coneworx and am involved in traffic management throughout the Strathclyde area

Matthew Braid - Trainee

During my time at TIGERS I gained lots of new experience, many new skills and improved on things I already knew.

I started in the Netherton Training Centre with a group of 15 including myself.  Our trainer, Ryan Russell put our class off to a great start with ice-breakers and team building.  This approach and Ryan's realistic approach really helped everyone to settle into the new environment.

We continued with course covering all of the CSCS Health and Safety work, National Work Safety Unit and Employability Skills.  The days in the training room were structured and interesting, making the theory work easy to learn.

After finishing the course at Netherton I was given a placement at Great Gardens situated in Govanhill.  While there I was given a taster of the horticulture trade and other skills such as manual handling and respect for the environment.

After the placement I was offered full time apprenticeship employment by Carillion Training Services, a joint venture between Training Initiatives and Carillion PLC.  While there Ilearned various aspects of groundworkers.  I learned to concrete and mono-block, Iwas also offered training in brick-laying, confined spaces and water hygiene.

I have now accepted an alternative joinery apprenticeship with West Dunbartonshire Council.  I feel that the skills I have learned will continue to improve my overall performance at work and my knowledge of the construction industry.

Michaela Bannon, Business Administration Apprentice

TIGERS and the Modern Apprenticeship programme has really helped me over the past 18 months from gaining full time employment to turning my personal weaknesses into my strengths for example speaking in public, in doing this it enabled me to give a ten minute talk for the Scottish Apprenticeship week to try and encourage other organisations to take on more apprentices. I am very pleased about how much progress i have made gaining my SVQ level two MA in business admin and currently sitting my level three and this wouldn't have been possible if it wasn't for the TIGERS programme.
