After a fantastic 2015, winning awards such as the STF 'Most Innovative and Creative Employability Provider', we started off 2016 with the great news that we had been awarded the Investors in Young People Gold Award! This is an award we value highly as it is a subject matter we are so passionate about, progressing young people into sustainable employment.
On the day, we had both Laura Peacock of Investors in Young People, and the Minister for Youth and Women's Employment Annabelle Ewing visit our Training Center to meet some of our Modern Apprentices as well as spend some time with Managing Director, John Gibson, and Operations Director, Pauline Scott, where the main topic of discussion was the youth employment strategy. A great visit, which was capped of with the Minister presenting us with our new IIYP plaque.
Minister for Youth and Women's Employment Annabelle Ewing, said:
"The Scottish Government recognises the key role of Scotland's young workforce in delivering sustainable economic growth and we are committed to raising aspiration and employment opportunities for our young people across Scotland.
"I am delighted to present TIGERS LTD with their gold standard Investors In Young People award. It is a real credit to all of their hard-work and efforts in making sure that our young people have the best opportunities while in employment. Their training has also rightly been recognised with an award for being the most innovative and creative by the Scottish Training Federation and should serve as an example of best practice for other employers across Scotland.
"We want to make sure that the next generation of Scots have every encouragement, support and advice they need when entering the employment market so that we can continue to tackle youth unemployment."
John Gibson, Managing Director, TIGERS, highlighted the reason why TIGERS are such strong advocates of IIYP,
" As a Training Provider, TIGERS are engaging with employers, seeking opportunities for young people within their business. How can we expect employers to give the commitment to young workforce development if TIGERS are not willing to employ young people ourselves. We genuinely believe young people can be an asset to businesses and help increase their bottom line.
We are committed to supporting our employer partners who are recruiting and developing young people to gain the recognition they so rightly deserve by achieving IIYP status".
