    What is a Modern Apprenticeship?

    Apprenticeships are nationally recognised qualifications that are part funded by Skills Development Scotland and offer an excellent way of mastering practical skills in the workplace . They give people the opportunity to train as they work and earn money, and are increasingly recognised as the gold standard for work-based training.

    How does it work?

  • Candidates must be in employed status and working within the industry specific to the qualification.
  • Candidates will undertake mandatory units within the qualification and a selection of optional units in relation to their job role / business requirements.
  • An MA can last from 6 months to 4 years
  • TIGERS Assessors will visit the candidate’s place of work every 2-4 weeks to carry out assessments.
  • Candidates will collate work based evidence to support their portfolio and meet the performance criteria set within the qualification.
  • Candidates will return to TIGERS training centres to undertake additional training to support their qualification and own personal development.

What Modern Apprenticeships Do TIGERS Offer?

  • SOCIAL SERVICES CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE LEVEL 3

    This SVQ is suitable for individuals who are currently in employment and who wish to obtain a formal qualification, the SVQ in Social Services (Children and Young People) is for people who are practitioners in early years settings. It is a requirement by the SSSC that everyone employed in this capacity should be working towards achievement of this qualification.
    To achieve the SVQ level 3, candidates are required to complete eight Units. Four core/mandatory Units plus four optional Units.Candidates will be expected to demonstrate competence in the required mandatory and selected optional Units. They must also be able to perform to the required standard over a period of approximately 24 months.
  • GENERAL CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS LEVEL 3
    Occupational Work Supervision

    The competence-based qualification is aimed at experienced workers in technical, supervisory and management roles (Construction Technical, Supervision and Management and related roles), seeking to develop their competence and improve their skills and knowledge.
  • GENERAL CONSTRUCTION OPERATIONS LEVEL 2

    The General Construction Operations Level 2 Modern Apprenticeship consists of 6 units and lasts approximately 18 months. The qualification includes some of the tasks below:
    - Perform basic risk assessments
    - Manually handle tools, materials and equipment
    - Identify hazards associated with the workplace
    - Place and finish non-specialist concrete
    - Establish work area protection and safety
    - Operate specialised power tools and equipment.
  • BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION LEVEL 4

    This qualification is a competence based qualification. It is aimed at people who already have experience of office-based skills and wish to specialise in business and administration functions; ideally in a supervisory role. Learners can choose from a bank of optional units which show their ability to manage projects, problem-solve, negotiate, recruit and supervise, manage and run an office. The level 4 qualification consists of 3 mandatory and 5 optional.
  • BUSINESS & ADMINISTRATION LEVEL 3

    This qualification is aimed at people who already have experience of office-based skills and wish to specialise in business and administration functions. Learners can choose from a bank of optional units which show their ability to negotiate, supervise, manage and contribute to the running of an office. The Level 3 qualification consists of 3 mandatory and 5 optional units.
  • BUSINESS & ADMINISTRATION LEVEL 2

    This is a Level 2 qualification that is delivered in the work place and will help you assess your Business Administration practices. It is aimed at individuals whose Business Administration role requires well developed behavioural competence and the ability to work at assistant level.
    The SVQ Level 2 is made up of 3 mandatory units and 5 optional units. Level 3 also consists of 3 mandatory and 5 optional units.
